The Yahoo! Finance platform, owned by Yahoo ! one of the most popular sites in the world, now offers support for trading four crypto-currencies - Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and Dogecoin (DOGE).
The announcement of the new service was made on Thursday (30) through a post on the company's blog. The Yahoo Finance is one of the most accessed sites in the world for real-time stock quotes and market information.
The new service, which was unique to traditional financial market negotiations, will work the same way for crypto-currency traders.
Users will see buying and selling buttons on the quotation page of each crypto. After starting a negotiation, they will be able to log into an external brokerage account (at Coinbase, for example) and execute the buy or sell order, all without leaving the Yahoo! platform Finance.
Since the end of last year the platform has been offering information service of the crypto market, whose main motivation, according to publication at the time, was "to keep its users informed about the digital currency craze."
Joanna Lambert, general manager of finance and technology at Oath, Yahoo's control company, said:
"We launched our integration with 'Trade It' for the first time a year ago, allowing people to trade on Yahoo Finance for the first time. We are excited to expand this offer to cryptocurrency, further connecting our passionate investor community with relevant utilities on our platform. "
The app, for now, is available only on the Apple Store for iOS devices, but in the statement, the company also promises to launch soon service for Android devices, desktop and mobile web.
While it is unclear which cross-platform exchange the platform has partnered with for the new service, it is known that Yahoo has a partnership with the brokerage integration platform, Trade It, notably integrated with one of the largest exchanges of the world, Coinbase, since November of last year.
It was also unclear whether Yahoo failed to mention Bitcoin Cash (BCH) - usually a member of the quartet BTC, ETH, LTC, BCH - or actually gave up giving it the same support.
However, one of the trophies was one of the most famous altcoins on the market, Dogecoin (DOGE), a relatively simple crypto-currency in terms of its technological background, Ethereum World News noted.
Yahoo.com is the sixth most visited site in the world, according to Alexa, a platform that points to the most accessed networks across the web.
The news echoed in the cryptomoedas community and caught the attention of famous people in the industry, such as Charlie Lee, creator and founder of Litecoin, who wrote on his Twitter:
Now you can buy / sell LTC at @ YahooFinance. Mass adoption is done one step at a time.
