The word "Selfie" was devised in 21st century and was declared the Word of the Year in 2013 by the Oxford Dictionaries. Selfie is nothing but holding your smartphone at arm's length and pointing the Camera at yourself to click pictures.
Selfie are norm now-a-days. You want them everywhere. The fetish for selfie even now being described as Syndrome. Broadly, Selfie Syndrome is divided into three categories:

In 2015, a news channel reported that a 21-year-old fell off from the top of the mountain while capturing a selfie.Cause Narcissism: - Some people are so Obsessed with their selfie that they can goto any extremes to take their best possible and thrilled selfie.
So, there are a lot of news stories like these, and the number is growing on a daily basis.

There is a shared responsibility of families, schools, industries, government and others in the public playing their part to reduce the harmful menace of Selfie Culture. And a lot of research is required for the same before it affects large population of the world.
