On 13 January 2018 in Johannesburg, South Africa, Julius Malema's political party Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) held a protests outside various H&M stores around Gauteng against a advert run by the Swedish clothing chain. The EFF vandalized the story knocking over displays and throwing clothes on the ground.
The party claims along with many that an ad is racist for using a black child model a green hoodie with the phrase print on it "coolest monkey in the jungle".
H&M removed the ad since and they also issued an apologised for any offense they caused with there ad.
