POLICE have arrested two men over what they are calling a deliberate attack on pedestrians in Melbourne city today. Police have not revealed a motive if one is known as of yet.
14 people have been hospitalised with reports of a young child in critical condition. The car targeted the busy Flinders street train station.
This is the second of such attacks in Melbourne City, Australia this year with an car plowing into civilians in Bourke street mall in January. The incident killed 6 people with another 36 injured, those deaths included a 10 month old baby and ten year old boy. Melbourne City responded by putting bollards in place in some parts of the city though this incident has not been stopped by those precautions. The perpetuator was arrested and the court proceedings are still taking place but it was confirmed to be a non terrorist attack, with the alleged being known for illicit drug use and mental health issues.
Reports from witnesses say the car today was travelling between 60 and 100km per hour. One witness said " - the only thing that seemed to be slowing him down was the amount of pedestrians he had hit."
We can only hope not deaths come from the injuries sustained to victims today. Updates will be made in relation to motives of the perpetrators.
