I've had friends claim the low murder rate and low firearm rate are linked, but I read somewhere that Japan records familial murder/suicides as all suicides, skewing the data in comparison to other countries.
So here in Australia if I kill my whole family, then myself; that's 4 murders and a suicide.
In Japan it'd be 5 suicides.
Has that come up, or does that gel with your understanding of the way these incidents are reported there?
