Banda Aceh - A wild female elephant in Aceh was seriously injured by being caught in a snare. The new treatment was successfully carried out after officers searched this animal for two weeks.

The front left leg of an 25-year-old elephant was seriously injured by a snare. The team has treated it, said the Head of the Aceh Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) Sapto Aji Prabowo, Thursday (09/20/2018).

The process of finding wild elephants does require a long time. After being known to be caught in a snare, this protected animal disappeared. The animal nicknamed "Po Meurah was finally found in Blang Tualang Village, Bireum Bayen District, East Aceh.

The Aceh BKSDA team together with VESSWIC veterinarians were deployed to the location. The elephant is then laid near the mud in the middle of the forest. Some officers surrounded him. They are in charge of releasing snares that are attached to the legs by cutting.

While the team of doctors cleaned the wound and gave antibiotics. This large-bodied animal was also infused to restore its strength. This treatment process was carried out on Wednesday 19 September afternoon.
