Facebook officially opened its new office in Indonesia, Monday (14/08/2017). The office is located in the 49th floor Capital Place office building, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jakarta.

Country Director of Facebook Indonesia, Sri Widowati, said Facebook actually has been operating in Indonesia since 2014 then. However, at that time, the Facebook office in Indonesia is only representative only. The representative office does not conduct the operations of the company.

"Investment here is a top priority, because Indonesia is a huge market, so every chance we enter, but can not explain more details (about the classification of new business or operational)," said the woman who is usually called Wido, when talking with Journalist, in the office of Facebook Indonesia.

"In Indonesia, our focus is on building communities and businesses, both big and small, and we will also build ecosystems here," he added.

Wido is reluctant to mention how many local employees will be absorbed by the new office. In addition to local employees, there is the possibility of Facebook bring in experts from abroad to provide specific training.

"Later in accordance with the needs alone," said Wido.

Facebook opened office after establishing a permanent business entity (BUT) in Indonesia. The process of making the BUT is indeed quite long.

Despite having obtained the principle license since March 2017, the social media giant still has to wait and adjust the Indonesian Business Class Standard (KBLI) issued through the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).

When KompasTekno visited, only two meeting rooms are organized and functionalized. While one more room is still used as storage space.

The meeting room is placed in a corner, close to an open hall and a canteen that provides meals and drinks for employees. In the canteen also there is Facebook Wall which is one of the typical decoration of the company.

Meanwhile, the walls surrounding the meeting hall to the workshop room were decorated by murals by Indie Guerilla and Agung Prabowo artists. There are also couches placed in the corners by the window, or a wall attached with an encouraging quote.
