Former President Barack Obama will be the first guest on David Letterman’s new Netflix series, marking the ex-commander in chief’s first TV talk-show interview since leaving office.
Obama will appear on the premiere episode of “My Next Guest Needs no Introduction” on Jan. 12, the entertainment company announced Friday.
Each show is “centered around one extraordinary figure whom Dave finds fascinating” and will include conversations that are “intimate, in-depth and far-reaching,” according to Netflix.
Obama was a frequent guest when Letterman hosted “The Late Show,” appearing eight times in total and three as commander in chief. Letterman stepped down from the CBS show in 2015 after nearly 22 years.
Letterman, 70, has been a vocal critic of President Trump, calling him “ignorant” and “damaged.” In August, he said the Trump presidency was an "experiment" that hadn't worked out.
Other guests on Letterman’s planned six-episode run include: rapper Jay Z, SiriusXM radio host Howard Stern, actor George Clooney, comedian Tina Fey and Nobel Prize-winning activist Malala Yousafzai.
