Growing up in Charlotte as a kid we use to have these sort of events... You could always tell the kids that

went to the event the night before because their jackets always smelled of the exhaust from the monster engines. The favorite of the time was a monster truck named "Big Foot." Talk about a monster! It was like a bulldozer with a wrecking ball attached! It would leave a ring around competitors' eyes and treadmarks on their backs... Anyway this article brought back those childhood memories...
