Many people here in Italy want to change the yet strict laws about gun detention. They claim we're "under attack", "streets are no longer safe", "a person must be able to defend himself from thieves".
I strongly hope we don't imitate too much the USA in this field, because only gun control can keep the inevitable count of victims of psycopaths low.
This, beshide the other topic you touched... that is the loss of values and sanity in this consumer society

Yeah I'm ambivalent about guns in that, though I like them (they're fun to shoot for target practice) they're still terrifying. They reduce the difficulty of murder.
I hope Italy continues to make it difficult to acquire a weapon. Those same people afraid of 'thieves' will likely end up doing what Americans do: shooting dark skinned humans because they felt scared
