Kim Jong-un warns "imprudent" US of "final miserable end" and its "greatest disaster" after hydrogen bomb test
The rhetoric between the two sparring countries has ramped up significantly since North Korea announced the "perfect success" of a hydrogen bomb test
A bullish North Korea has warned the US it faces its "final miserable end" hours after testing an apparent hydrogen bomb. It added America will be unable to avoid its "greatest disaster" if the secretive country is provoked by Donald Trump.
The rhetoric between the two sparring countries has ramped up significantly since North Korea announced the "perfect success" of a hydrogen bomb test. Today, President Trump posted a series of tweets in which he said any moves to appease the country "will not work" as he angrily responded to the latest nuclear test. He made the remarks as Pyongyang issued its latest chilling threat towards US "imperialists".
The article in Rodong Sinmun said: "If the US persists in its hostile policy towards the DPRK and makes a showdown with the latter to the end, while denying the strategic position of the DPRK, it will only face the final miserable end. It continues by saying the recent North Korea missile strike over Japan was a "great demonstration" of the "invincible might" of North Korean forces to "wipe out the main bases for aggression once an attack order is issued." North Korea says its missile launch was part of an effort to restrain Guam, which it fears is a front-line base for an US invasion.
It added: "Only actions, not polite words, will work on the U.S. which acts with imprudence. "The aggressors should bear in mind that unimaginable retaliation which nobody has ever experienced would follow their reckless war frenzy to invade the north. "If the U.S. imperialists awkwardly provoke the DPRK, they would not be able to escape from the greatest disaster. "Clearly look at the strategic position of the DPRK, nuclear power of Juche and worldwide military power, and the trend of the times. "Do not forget even a moment that sharp ultra-modern strike means aim at the U.S. This is a severe warning of Songun Korea." On Sunday, top diplomats from the US and South Korea discussed their joint response to the hydrogen bomb threat. It comes as Theresa May urged world leaders to condemn Pyongyang as she hit out at the latest nuclear development.
