On Saturday, former porn star Mia Khalifa responded to the tragic school shooting in Texas by turning in her gun to the police.
She claims,"I’m not against the 2nd amendment, I am against the untimely deaths of children."
Along with, "Leaving my gun rack empty, just like the beds of all of the lost children"
Mia then went on to say that she would donate the $1,500 the gun was worth to Everytown, an organization dedicated to gun control and noted that “having [the gun] doesn't make me feel safer."
Mia states that having the gun didn't make her feel safer but suggest that every small action counts. Her tweets claim that we should do something and anything that we do can help. The cognitive dissonance in these tweets is almost too much. I cannot help but think about all of the freedoms Americans gave up right after 9/11 due to a tragic attack. One thing we should all know about rights and governments is when you give up your rights, don't expect to get them back.
What's even more rich about this whole ordeal is that Mia takes a picture of herself handing her gun over to police. If you look very carefully you can see that her gun is not a semi-automatic rifle. It's just a plain jane rifle, most likely a shotgun. What is the point Mia Khalifa is trying to make?
Do anything, #DoSomething
Is this the world we live in now-a-days?
I'm all for voluntaryism, I would actually describe myself as a voluntaryist.
However, the message Mia is sending is a message of Statism and dependency.
She isn't advocating for people to take matters into their own hands (as some would applaud her for and ultimately claim-that in fact is what she is doing).
No, Mia Khalifa is sending a clear message of dependency on the state.
She doesn't know what to do so she calls the police and tells them to come pick up her gun and take it away from her. She acts as if she cannot control her actions and makes me questions if she believes in self-ownership. To wrap it all up she encourages everyone to donate to Everytown, an organization that is very biased in their reporting on the statistics of gun violence. Ultimately this wasn't such a good move to make on Twitter.
Conservatives and Libertarians began to attack, make jokes, and truly point out the hypocrisy and idiocity in her actions and statements.
Here is an article you can get this general idea of what happened:

She has a mental illness. When she's in trouble, she's going to call people with guns, right? People are ignorant. Sadly, we are surrounded by well programmed robots, and they are dangerous.
