How to win "wars" without fighting (using game theory)

in #news7 years ago

“The general who wins the battle makes many calculations in his temple before the battle is fought. The general who loses makes but few calculations beforehand.”

~ Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Hey Guys,

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. You need to think ahead. Imagine things beyond your own perspective is how you win.

A lot of the problems in the world are the result of bad decisions. In this email, I’ll talk about why the government’s “solutions” for education, farming, and banking did more than harm than good.

How America Grew Its Wealth

Throughout the 1700-1800’s America had some of the best farmland in the world. And it was thanks to agriculture that the states became an economic powerhouse.

But then the government started to come up with hairbrained ideas during the 1900’s. Like using ethanol for fuel. This decision led to plowing fields that prevented carbon sequestration. This improper use of farmland is one of the main causes of global warming.

Governments would benefit a lot from something called Game Theory.

Game Theory helps you think about multiple outcomes, so you can decide what your best option is. Mathematicians, economists, and social psychologists apply the theory for situation analysis (analyzing situations). It’s used in war, business, and biology.

Here’s an another example of good intentions gone wrong.

The Academic “Pump and Dump”

Someone once decided standardized testing is a good idea. They forget every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Teaching to a test forces teachers to “pump” information to pass a test, only to have their students “dump” what they learned to memorize for the next round of testing. What a horrible situation.

Instead of teaching practical skills for thriving in the world, we’re creating a system of robots being conditioned with just enough to get by.

This conditioning continues after school and trains society to go from test-to-test to survive paycheck-to-paycheck.

This is why I’m disrupting how education works. It’s backward thinking that’s leaving too many people unprepared for the world.

Salvation won’t be found through legislation. Too often regulations have unintended side effects. Be very careful when you’re voting, especially when deciding about laws that affect the planet. Think about ALL possible outcomes before you decide.

Mother Nature always laughs last.

Stay Strong,
Midas

P.S. The Dodd-Frank act is another example of backward thinking. Intended to help real estate markets bounce back, it instead put a lot of small businesses out of business. The end result? Major corporations — who caused the problem in the first place — benefitted.
