The government has decided to purchase 20 train engines and 150 coaches to meet growing demand and increase passenger amenities. These will be bought from South Korea. The project will cost Tk 1,791 crore 11 lakhs.
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), including the project to purchase the railway engine, today approved 16 projects worth Tk 16.11 crore. ECNEC chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the NEC conference room in the city's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. The Planning Minister said, there are 1,165 passengers on the railway railway meter gauge cargo. Out of which 456 passenger coaches have crossed 35 years, 135 for 31-34 years. Due to passenger demand, the passenger coaches used during the repair are used but it is not comfortable with modern comfort and safe. By implementing the project, 20 meter gauge diesel electric locomotives and 150 meter gauge passenger carriage collections, safe and high quality locomotive and passenger carriage supply; He hoped that it would be possible to manage new trains and increase rail revenue revenue to meet the demand of the passengers.
Other projects approved by ECN are Mymensingh Region Rural Infrastructure Development, Rangpur Division Rural Infrastructure Development Project-2nd phase, Rajshahi Division (excluding Sirajganj District), Rural Infrastructure Development, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, 'Bangladesh Marine Fisheries Capacity Building' project, 'Modernization of Krishi Shanti Seva Digital Empowerment and Strengthening of Communication ', Technical and Madra Infrastructure Development of existing Polytechnic Institutes to create opportunities for greater number of students admission in the Education Department; 'Establishment of four women polytechnic institutes in Sylhet, Barisal, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions', 'Physical Infrastructure Development Project of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University' of project, secondary and higher education department; 'Awareness Communication Program for the Development of Children and Women (Phase I)'; 'Development of eye health and blindness prevention projects in certain areas of Bangladesh'; Modernization of roads and bridges with the development of various important roads and bridges of Chittagong City Corporation; Promotion and strengthening of the district highways in Trishal-Balipara-Nandail (Kanurampur), development of transmission infrastructure for the supply of reliable power in the Mirsarai Economic Zone, 'Sirta, Mymensingh and Kalkini, Building of Madaripur Islamic Mission Hospital Complex Building and strengthening Baitul Mukarram Diagnostic Center' of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Of these projects, 11,829 crore 48 lakh taka from the government fund, Tk.3334 million from the implementing agency and 3,839 crore 42 lakhs from foreign aid will be available.
