Wow. Just wow. Like brought a tear to my eye wow as I've been studying computational neuroscience on my own for a few years now and this was what I came to understand in my own reading and mathing. Now to see it visualized is just insane. I even met a scientist at Boston University a few years ago who studied this and he gave me a similar explanation, but still did not understand it well himself yet (he probably is cited somewhere on this project).
I also am a psychology major and one of the major issues in brain health is fragmentation when trying to re-integrate one's life into healthier patterns and general betterness. This opens completely new doors to explore that side. Wow.
I can tell you this may be one of the most significant discoveries of this century. Better prepare your buttholes for what's next.

I have some major inklings about layers of consciousness now outside of the body. It's as mundane as social media blasting and influencing a lot of people at once, and as wondrous as some of the stuff in ancient mysticism if you follow Jung's work at all. He researched alchemy ("the art of relationships and transformation") as a form of mental modeling and made some very amazing discoveries, or rediscoveries I suppose. Hermeticism actually talks a lot about this too, the Corpus Hermeticum is a real trip to read and inspired the last 2000 years of western alchemy and science. It also inspired Newton's classical mechanics and theory of gravity (which is really beautiful when you read his words), go figure.
Now that we have a greater understanding of the brain, we can also work on implementing the structure into an AI system. The possibilities are endless! Followed.
I'm going nuts right now with ideas. This is just beautiful.
It is, but sadly not many people will even focus on this ground breaking news. They will be preoccupied with some pop star or youtuber drama.
that's why we take it and fucking run with it until they catch up. Because we got our lives to do something good with it.

I'm a floater myself. Honestly the youtube comments for things like these are loaded with good discourse. Otherwise relegate to the author's sites and look there for forums or social media.
