81 non-governmental organizations including Human Rights Watch (HRW) urged the United Nations Security Council to take quick, comprehensive, and effective international action to solve the Rohingya crisis. The call was made in a joint statement yesterday.
Yesterday, the meeting of the 15 members of the Security Council was to discuss the UN Secretary-General's Jeffrey Feltman and UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy on Sexual Violence in Pramila Paten In the joint statement, the organizations said that they do not think they will get any effective results from the meeting of the Security Council. The United Nations Security Council has called on all the ways in the statement to establish justice and accountability, including going to international courts. At the same time, the Myanmar army has called for a ban on weapons restrictions on army officers who have been accused of persecution and human rights violations against Rohingya.
Call for a new drafting agreement
HRW calls for a new draft agreement signed between Bangladesh and Myanmar on the rehabilitation of Rohingya In a letter to the government of the two countries on Monday, the human rights group said in a letter.
HRW has urged the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to maintain international standards for this new draft draft. Human rights organizations have also called upon the donors to encourage Bangladesh and Myanmar to fund the repatriation initiative.
