History of Meugang Day
Meugang is a tradition of cooking meat and enjoying it with family, relatives and orphans by the people of Aceh, Indonesia. The Meugang tradition has been applied since the time of the Kingdom of Aceh in the year 1607-1636 AD, during which time "Sultan Iskandar Muda" cut the animals in large quantities and the meat is distributed free of charge to everyone. This is done as a gratitude for the welfare of his people and his gratitude to his people. Since then, Hari Meugang has been rooted in the life of the people of Aceh to this day.
