Amazon, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Netflix, Twitter, and many others have formed the "Internet Association", A trade group that is helping file a lawsuit against the FCC over Net Neutrality

in #news7 years ago

A lobbying group comprised of dozens of the biggest technology companies announced that it is planning to file a lawsuit against the Federal Trade Commission over the gutting of net neutrality rules.

As an intervenor, IA would not be the one filing a suit against the FCC. It will play a potentially significant role by filing legal arguments on behalf of organizations that do intend to file a suit, like the Free Press and state attorneys general. Being an intervenor would also afford IA and its members to appeal a judge's decision.

This is some crazy stuff!!! All people really want is to make sure our internet isn't split into tiers of service... They are making this stupid!

This does unfortunately affect everybody... Sad thing is that we don't technically need net neutrality, but we do... We only need to make sure we don't have a tiered internet... You know. One service getting priority over the other service. ie. they could slow your netflix/hulu or your gaming/streaming/youtube down unless you were willing to pay more, etc... It's a backwards step. It doesn't ensure it will happen but it makes it possible. We just need better laws that protect us is all the it really boils down to.
