Appeals court refuses to reinstate Trump's Muslim ban
Trump's travel ban on citizens of predominantly Muslim countries is not going to be reinstated. Three federal appeals court judges prevented this. Trump's lawyers didn't even try to elaborate why the ban is important. They argued that the president's authority on immigration is already reason enough to reinstate the order.
Trump responded on Twitter as soon as the court's ruling was announced. The tweet suggests the administration will take the case to Supreme Court.
Satellites help monitor migrating Whales
Although whales are massive animals, populations are difficult to monitor, according to scientists. Researchers in Australia are now using satellites to track the local population of humpbacks.
Humpback whales were considered an endangered species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973. But US National Marine Fisheries Service have lifted this status last year with successful conservation efforts. Still, these migratory whales are hard to track, and most of the population estimates are highly speculative.
This is the biggest effort in humpback monitoring for the last 10 years and will hopefully make this speculative numbers very accurate numbers.
Ink out of air pollution?
Earlier this week, an MIT spinoff company in India proposed a solution to the air pollution problems in Asia
A device attached to a vehicle exhaust will turn unburned carbon emitted by incomplete combustion in the engine into ink. The device is called Kaalink, and it's technical details are still a secret. But company co-founder Anirudh Sharma told Seeker: "It's a clever fusion of electronic sensors, mechanical actuators, and a collection system"
Hopefully, this will reduce the unburned carbon emitted by cars, and solve a big issue humanity is facing in big cities, smog.
