Cyber Attack On The UK: Hackers Attempt To Access Emails Of MP's.

A massive cyber attack hit the British Parliament which prompted authorities to shut down all external access to email accounts of MP's. The attack took place Friday night and is said to have been designed to identify weak email passwords and has been described as "sustained and determined".

This is the second time in just over a month that Britain has been targeted. Just over a month ago, a ransomware worm had almost crippled the countries health system, the NHS. The computer systems had been crippled so badly that it had affected hospitals around the country, forcing some of them to turn away patients.

Late Friday night, unusual activity was noticed in the parliaments networks and a statement was published which said:

Closer investigation by our team confirmed that hackers were carrying out a sustained and determined attack on all parliamentary user accounts in an attempt to identify weak passwords.

As a result of this, all external access to the email account of MP's was shut down so that they could not access their inbox if they were outside of Westminster.

Though investigations are on, incidents like these should be a reminder of how important security and passwords are today for us people who are on a site like steemit. We not only blog but we also earn and have to understand that our first line of defense against attacks of this sort are our passwords. So be smart and keep your password safe.
