Self-dirving cars are a fairly new technology. The idea has been around for along time but advancements in cameras and other sensors and more importantly artificial intelligence allows this to be a reality in today's world.
Unfortunately it seems we jumped the gun, and a company aready struggling hard in the public relations department has now killed a woman in Arizona with a robotic vehicle! I was just thinking about this the other day while driving for Lyft..

I think you need to read the details of this story further. Police are saying the pedestrian was at fault, not the automated car. It's a tragic accident, but nothing more.
Doesn't help the company either way, especially when they are already suffering from so much negative press.
