"The future is clean. The future is you. The future is now. Let's take it further"  Andre Piccard - Solar Impulse 2 Pilot

History has been made once again today in what is known as the first round-the-world solar journey, the aircraft is called Solar Impulse 2. Fellow pilots Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg have just landed a few hours ago in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The aircraft has made a total of 16 stops around the world and been tested along the way by the different unexpected problems.

These are truly some interesting and rapidly advancing time that we are witnessing. We are living the developments of previously impossible technologies, including our very own Steemit.

The aircraft is uniquely powered by 17,248 solar cells that transfer energy to four electrical motors that power the plane's propellers. It runs on four lithium polymer batteries at night. The plane's wingspan stretches 236 feet (72 meters) to catch the sun's energy.

The project is estimated to cost more than $100 million. The UAE-based Masdar, the Abu Dhabi government's clean-energy company, was a main sponsor of the flight.
