We as a society have changed in the way we communicate. My generation is the last generation to understand why we say "hang up" the phone.
Our voices are no longer tied to the walls of building and our voices are no longer contained within the streets of where where we live. Technology has broken the boundaries of where our voices can reach.
The problem is the platforms that where built for us to built our far reaching communities have become the foundation to which we have to speak. These platforms of social media YOUTUBE TWITTER REDIT the list goes on and on.
These platforms are no longer just an app on your phone they are the podium on wich we can voice our opinions. They are the stage our proformers use to entertain and the display case for businesses to showcase thier goods.
Technology has taken our community and removed the human interaction and replaced it with key board clicks and cell phone swipes. These platforms should no longer hold the power to infringing on the rights of any one of us.
With the change in technology and the change in how our communities interact there must be a change in the amount of power we allow these platforms to have. When does social media become more like a utility than just an app? To me these places we have to speak are places we have a right to talk within in the same way I have a right to water, electricity, or trash?
