Public sector company BHEL, which has built power equipment, has entered into a technology transfer agreement with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to manufacture various capacity lithium-ion batteries. Under which the company will manufacture lithium ion cells (batteries) of various capacity of space level. In which the developed technology will be used by ISRO and now it uses ISRO Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC).
BHEL said in a statement on Friday that ISRO has so far sourcing lithium-ion batteries of ISRO space-class with foreign vendors and BHEL assembling and testing such imported batteries and used in the satellite and vehicles being sent to it. . By transferring this technology, BHL lithium ion batteries can be made for ISRO and other related companies. Lithium ion technology can be used in energy storage and electric vehicles. BHEL will set up a modern plant in the factory of Bangalore for manufacturing this battery.
ISRO's official said that in Thiruvananthapuram, ISRO's Vikram Sarabhai Space Center has developed the success of the technology of producing space-class lithium-ion batteries, which has done well in various testing conditions. Such a battery is being used in various satellites etc. He further said, we need a lot of such batteries for our satellite, but we can not produce too much in our pilot plant. We need a big plant. Automotive Research Association of India has used such a battery with the success of two-wheeler and four-wheelers.
