Welcome to my blog @rafaelfact
The unique buildings of Europe always steal the attention of tourists. Call it the sloping Pissa tower, or colloseum which is the glaciers arena.Jauh on the northern coast of France, there is a village that is not less unique, Equihen Plage.
Equihen Plage - France is synonymous with the romantic of the Eiffel Tower. Away on the northern coast of France, there is a unique village with a unique inverted boat house!
In the 1900s, Equihen Plage Village is famous for being one of the best fishing spots in France. Its people also mostly work as fishermen
As a popular fishing destination, Equihen Plage has problems with damaged boats. The arrival of new ships, making old broken boats no longer in use.
Many ships are destroyed on the beach. Looks still good, making local fishermen take back the boats that have been damaged. The vessel is made as a roof of their fish storage.
This storage house is slowly mushrooming because it does not cost so much money like building a new building. The community only needs to add pieces of wood as walls and cover with the boat upside down. If there is a leak just need a tarpaulin for patching
Began mushrooming, the houses eventually became an area called Quartier des Quilles en l'Air or the bowling district in the air. But this did not last long.
Second world war came and destroyed the storage warehouses made of these boats. Already the identity, the community was rebuilding their ship house as a dwelling.
Now, inverted houseboats have become a cultural heritage in Equihen Plage. The number of houses is about 3,000 units. No longer a warehouse, a boat house overturned has become a residence and even a popular lodging for tourists.
If you are on holiday to Equihen Plage, you can try to stay in this reverse boat house.
