The NFL kneeling issue is a big part of the US/Trump/Obama/One Party DemLiberTeaPublican Dictatorship making The Public COMPLY. Just the same as them weakening/getting rid of unions. It's all very Nineteen Eighty-Four like, ditto for the rise of Hitler, a government taken over by a regime creating a patriotic compliant population.
The "kneeling" issue is highly important to the US Government, a must win at all costs, as Football is one of the most important indoctrination platforms for the US Government, reaching the people they want to reach in a war-like way that's easy to reach them in.
....but this isn't what US Patriotism is about.

1/ There's nothing unusual about players being out with the fans when the national anthem is played. In "National" Football in Europe and S. America, the players are out for the anthem, so this is no big deal, BUT THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE this is for NATIONAL games "special occasions", not local team games. The US stance is like those numbskulls who have the Christmas lights blazing 365 days a year.
2/ Anyone who looks in to "Patriotism" will find out that it is not a good thing. Patriotism = last resort of scoundrels. Patriotism = justification for training for wholesale murders. Patriotism = conceit, arrogance and egotism.
Basically, it's used by people who feel weak, haven't made it into civilization, people who need something over them, it has the characteristics of a cult/religion. Bully characteristics are in there too.
3/ As Patriotism is cult-like behavior, it's not wise to incorporate it into sporting events, as it can be too easily used for mass indoctrination. It would be wise not to have the national anthem played at local sporting events, and reserve it for national events like US v Germany football games, or olympics.
4/ I boycotted the NFL over the leadership's (and now US Government's) racism. Miissed my Chiefs *-0 start to the season.............
