Scientists from Utrecht decided to thoroughly study one of the ancient Buddhist statues, preserved to our time. Already at first, the obtained data seemed strange, and the computer diagnostics did nothing to terrify everyone!
It turned out that inside the ancient statue rested the human body, sitting in the lotus position, Erich Bain, one of the authors of the study, on the basis of indirect evidence found that the remains belong to the famous Chinese monk Liu Yuan.
Further research showed another oddity: the monk was mummified during his lifetime. This is an ancient and very complex way to keep the remains practiced by Japanese Buddhists and until now the stories about it have been considered just myths.
Documentary evidence of the mummification of Liu Yuan was also discovered. The monk used to eat nuts and seeds for a thousand days, and after completely getting rid of fat, he ate only the bark for another year. To insects did not reach the remains, Liu drank a special tea made from varnish.
This is interesting ..where can we source the articles and photographs for more information?
