Putin helps release Omul fish into Lake Baikal
Russian President Vladimir Putin released fish into Lake Baikal during a visit to the Baikal State Natural Biosphere Reserve in the Republic of Buryatia. For the president's visit, a container with some 50 thousand Omul fish was installed on a small wooden pier near the reserve's visit centre. After initially using a hand net to release the fish, Putin pulled up a special lever on the lid of the container, releasing the fish into the lake.
