The win over Valencia at Mestalla saw Marcelo conjure up yet another sumptuous piece of play. After cutting inside his man, the Brazilian linked up with Marco Asensio and finished with aplomb, firing the ball hard and low through Neto's legs and into the net. This was the left-back's second goal of the campaign, whilst this is the 10th consecutive season in which he has got his name on the scoresheet.
Marcelo claimed his maiden goal for the club in the 2008/09 LaLiga visit to El Molinón and has registered in every season since then. His most prolific campaign was the 2010/11 season, in which he netted five times. During this period, the Brazilian has plundered a total of 30 goals: 23 in LaLiga, five in the Champions League and two in the Copa del Rey. His favourite goalscoring victims are Sporting Gijón, Levante, Athletic, Atlético Madrid, Espanyol, Celta Vigo and Valencia, sides against whom he has found the net twice.
