He made his transition just a few hours ago in Cambridge, UK at home with his family and is most likely experiencing something which can only be described as ecstasy in this moment, finally free from the debilitating shell he experienced most of his life.
At 22 he was diagnosed with a rare form of motor neurone disease and given only a few years to live.
Yet he went on to write several books, the most popular of which was 'A Brief History of Time' PDF here
He was most famous for his work with black holes & relativity.

For those of you who would like to learn more about his amazing life I suggest watching this most enjoyable recent feature film. It is a lot easier to digest than A Brief History of Time!
THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING
To say that this man lived an inspiring kind of life would fall massively short of the mark for there are few people in history who have influenced our collective understanding of the fundamental aspects of modern cosmology in the way he did.
And unlike his peers, he did it all confined to his seat, without the ability to speak.
Travel well Steven.
You will not be forgotten here.
Rockstar. Even arranged his exit on Pi Day and Einstein's birthday!
Your kidding! That's a weird coincidence hey?
Crazy, huh! Plus March 14 = 3.14, Pi Day!
Love your headline. But must say I disagree with him on many subject, but men did try to give his opinion.
Agreed 100%. We have learned so much more over the last 20 years which puts his ideas to the test. But it cannot be denied what a huge influence he has been.
A great mind indeed, he was a truly inspiring person who despite his physical limitations thrived and educated and motivated millions.
Rip.
You know it. Seriously inspiring.
Makes me realise how lucky I am to have full use of my body!
Indeed it does. Yet many waste and / or destroy the the gift of a perfect body.
I hope you and the family have all settled in well in france. 😃

So glad to hear that man. We are probably going to move country in the next couple of years to non English speaking country. I hope that me kiddies will settle easily. France certainly is a shorter run to the UK for sure.
