State of the Sndbox is a weekly newsletter that provides the latest in Sndbox activities, projects, and provides the best resources in creative empowerment for the Steemit community. To get up-to-date on all of our development throughout the week, be sure to follow us @sndbox.
This Week in the Sndbox
Welcome to the 27th State of the Sndbox newsletter! This past week, we broke down the many strengths and advantages of Steem Power. On Friday we announced our Decentralized Video Channel. Earlier this week we highlighted an amazing project called - Steemitworldmap.com - which is an amazing way to landmark your content and explore the works of other authors around the globe! Other highlights include our updated curation trail and finally - today - we’re in Philadelphia speaking at Temple University!
For a more thorough breakdown of what our members have been up to, be sure to go through our weekly Sndbox Selections of the Week post that we publish each Monday.
Sndbox’s Decentralized Video Channel
We’re excited to begin producing videos exclusively for DTube! From now onwards, we’ll be creative video and animated content for the Steemit community. We’ll be covering a range of topics including toolkits and tutorials, creative discussions, Sndbox project updates, and a number of other surprises that will inform new users and engage experienced Steemians alike. Our channel will focus on making the Steem blockchain approachable for new users while also digging into some of the more creative and abstract implications of cryptocurrency as an entire ecosystem.

Follow the new Sndbox Curation Trail!
Sndbox is regrouping its curation trail onto SteemAuto! The service is very easy to use, streamlined, and very transparent. If you want to support the resource development, community curation, and Sndbox incubator program on Steemit, we would love your follow and support. While you’re on SteemAuto, be sure to check out the cohort @sndbox-alpha’s trail as well!
Find the step-by-step guide to signing up and using SteemAuto here.
We Believe in Manual Curation
What will we be curating? @sndbox curates members within our incubator each weekday, while also tasking members to nominate external posts authored by the broader Steemit public. We curate upwards of 500 posts each week rigorously and host weekly challenges to engage authors beyond our incubator in creative ways (like our 100 year history challenge, and thumbnail art contests). We believe in manual curation and the human engagement of upvoting. Our team is constantly revisiting curation methods, evaluating our impact, and seeking new ways to support impactful content within the Steem ecosystem.
In an effort to expand and further democratize our curation footprint - we created @sndbox-alpha - a community operated curation account with rotating themes and international teams. We delegated 30,000 Steem Power to Alpha, allowing them to support a broader umbrella of under-valued content on Steemit and furthering a support network to empower new users. Right now, they’re curating “Art + Music” so make sure to give them a look and a follow!
Our Steem-Workshop with @phillyhistory
Sndbox is headed down to the city of Philadelphia today to meet up with the @phillyhistory class at Temple University! We’ll be conducting our first workshop with the university class to present the ins and outs of the Steem blockchain and what is possible for a research group to achieve within the Steemit community. Read all about our visit here. We’ll be sure to do a follow-up post going over the experience later this week!
The Benefits of Powering-Up
We know that a Steemit upvote’s weight is tied to our Steem Power, but did you know that there are several other major benefits and distinct opportunities that come from powering-up? In our latest resource toolkit, we go through these major advantages and present our argument for why you should ‘Power-Up’ on Steemit.
Find the new toolkit here.
Interview with @martibis and @steemitworldmap
Did you know you can geotag your Steemit posts and archive them on a communal map? This week, we had a chance to talk to @martibis, co-creator of @steemitworldmap - a project which allows you to landmark your posts on a collective map interface! Read all about him and the project here.
