Since when do adults allow children to lead and make important decisions. Children are are like leafs in the wind, they blow which every way the wind blows. If their parents are pro or contra they are pro or contra accordingly. And they can easily be manipulated because they don't have much life experiences to look back on. The 2nd amendment has it's benefits and negatives. It's role was never hunting, it was to prevent the emergence of a tyranical government by arming the civilians. To keep it simple an armed population cannot be enslaved. The second amendment has a price and that price is lives. The lives of the guilty and the lives of the innocent. It has saved people and sometimes contrary to it's purpose has been abused to cause harm on people illegaly. Imagine if every North Korean had a Colt1911 or a Kalashnikov, could Kim rule them?
What was Hitler's gun policy?
How is a woman supposed to fight off a criminal with bad intentions?
You cannot talk gun ban and not talk about the ramifications of a unarmed population.
I have no doubts a gun ban will save many lives but it will also cost some, probably less than it will save unless the gun ban itself causes a civil war. And it will change the culture and serve to embolden criminals to harm unarmed people as it will be easier and less risky than before.
I know it sounds hardcore but part of life is death I would think that if anybody understands this it would be those who incidentally happen to be pro abortion and anti gun which in itself is almost a paradox.
Can you ban a tribal man from owning a spear or a knife?
Is it moral to tell a farmer to give up his shot gun?
Should cops be unarmed as well?
How about abolishing state sponsored security details for Presidents, PM's, Kings, Senators etc.?
Is it moral for citizens to pay for armed security for leaders who disarm those very same people?
This is a highly complex issue dealing with matters of morality, legal questions, constitutional questions, social issues, security, national security, terrorism/counter terrorism, crime/anti crime, economics, philosophy, religion, consequences etc.
