Hello Steemit Friends,
More than 100,000 acres of Land in Californians is suffering the devastation created by wildfires that have burned but one man braved enough to go in the flames to save a wild rabbit.
Video of the daring rescue shows a highway near smoke and flames. An orange-and-black singed sky fills the screen.
But then, a wild rabbit darts across traffic and into the burning brush.
A man, stopped on the road and wearing just shorts and a hoodie, races after him. The rabbit is both out of reach and in danger.
That's when the panic sets in. The man jumps up and down, and paces anxiously, agonizingly trying to figure out how to rescue the creature from its burning habitat.
In a last-ditch effort, he wades into the brush to coax the rabbit out from the fire. After some pleading, the rabbit runs out of the flames and, after a few stumbles, into the motorist's arms, who carries him to safety along Highway.
The moment was a welcome relief from the damage and destruction the fires have caused.
One Twitter user said the video would serve to restore faith in humanity.
The Story has not ended….
Local animal experts warn that any wildlife spotted near a blaze should be left alone and This is due to the fact that they are still giving birth to litters around this time of year and are typically keeping them safe underground in their burrows.
So in reality, while the video of the rabbit rescue is heartwarming, some say it should really serve as an example of what not to do when you spot an animal near the flames.
“Fire or no fire, just let the animals be,” ?
“Fire is something animals have to deal with constantly,”. ?
What Do you think ? Do we cheer for this or we shake our heads ?
I think the man was executing a selfless act. What would you have done in a situation of panic like such ?. It is a humanitarian act in that very moment. Anyhow, we should be focusing on the real problem “The Fire”.
This year has been the most destructive one on record of California wildfire.
This time The “Santa Ana winds” or the “devil winds", which are known for the hot dry weather that they bring in the fall. It sweeps down pushing dust and smoke from wild fires from the deserts and across coastal Southern California far out over the Pacific Ocean.
Before humans, wildfires happened maybe once or twice a century. Now it is so frequent that native plants can’t keep up but for Californian’s it’s a part of the natural cycle of life in such a hot, dry and grassy environment like the state
Some say that it has gotten worst and a big part of the problem is with how houses have been built. The houses are very close to each other and basically there is a domino effect.
Anyhow if you wan to be a part of helping the animals, Humane Society of Ventura County is looking for donations which can be made through the Humane Society’s website. Food for horses, goats, donkeys, alpacas, cats and RABBITS is in high demand !!.
Thank you for all the upvotes, comments and repost !!!
Much Love,Suzana
