How can a nation's priorities be so distorted? Why aren't people marching on Washington and demanding that resources are spend on vital services rather than war?
Because the media and the establishment conspire to keep the masses compliant and distracted whilst their tax dollars are funnelled to Defense Contractors.
Consent is manufactured through the constant narrowing of the parameters of acceptable political debate, until the only candidates with a realistic chance of gaining power all stand for the same pro-big business and oligarchic policies.
Democracy has effectively been sold to the highest bidder, and we need something radical and new to prise powers away from corporate lobbyists and into the hands of everyday people.

I just posted about one of the leading profiteers of american oligarchy, Privatized Prisons.
It is a tiny amount of money compared to the Military Industrial complex, but it's clearly affecting the willingness of the people to face off against the government.
People just don't want to face jail time to reclaim our liberty.
Everyone wants change, but no one wants to change.
I wish things were different, and I am actively attempting to frame the conversation around issues that mainstream media ignores in the hopes that people will at least acknowledge the condition of our democracy.
Privatized prisons are horrible. They should all be shut down.
May the future bring change. We must continue to share, converse, theorize, and propose ideas of change for these absurd imbalances.
If things go on like that, we (Germany) have to go and liberate you this time. :)
The only item that belongs in that list is the military, and I would include veterans in that item. None of the other issues should be funded through taxation.
Not only are the other matters being funded through taxes extracted by force, contrary to the constitutional authority of the USG, but I do not want the federal government having any involvment in any of them.
Everything the federal government touches becomes tainted by corruption, propaganda, and scandal.
Sadly, this also includes the military.
