Zara, the world’s biggest fashion retailer, is again in the spotlight for the wrong reason. Shoppers in an Istanbul Zara store found - attached to the clothes - notes from workers at an outsourced factory who had lost their jobs. The world’s costliest clothing brands stand accused of underpaying and overworking contract workers, who are predominantly women. Even the Rana Plaza tragedy of 2013, in which 1100 workers perished, didn’t trigger substantial changes.
