While preparing for the 1/1 Gateway* and during prayer, I was given some advice and encouragement from Spiritus Mundi, the loving and compassionate Holy Spirit.
I asked, "What can I offer myself and those around me who are dangerously close to the edge of giving up? I'm observing a wave of energy that makes the Zombie Apocalypse look possible. Apathy is consciousness without compassion, it's terrifying."
*side note: "gateways" happen each month on the day corresponding to the month, so January's "gateway" would be the first day, February would host the "gateway" on the 2nd, March on the 3rd, and so forth. Gateways are considered optimal days for reflection, and are typically thought as portals for positive energy, frequency and vibration in the metaphysical communities.
There was an event in London in 1952 called the Great London Smog that I had peripherally been aware of but had not researched or studied beyond the occasional reference in a book or a movie. There had been some evidence that the smog was statistically probable before it happened, and a warning was sent to those who were in charge of alerting the public. It was ignored and waved off as a minor nuisance. Winston Churchill argued that "weather happens" and the effects of alarming people who are already burdened with problems would be worse than any "smog" that will pass.
Shrugging off the information as too much of a hassle caused the death of nearly 15K lives. The great Winston Churchill, who was and remains an ineffable iconic leader in recent history surrendered to his own realization that in spite of his truest desire to be compassionate while making decisions for everyone under his care, his apathy and oddly, logical reasoning led to enormous suffering. The chaos that comes always brings change and consciousness allows for better solutions.

When we remember our previous trauma and the pain it caused us and others, that is the key to making better decisions and choices for ourselves and creates the foundation for exponential positive growth. Dwelling in the pain does not. Revisiting a situation over and over in our mind causes a vortex of circular hellish experiences and eventually becomes the Ouroboros of self-destruction. A snake swallowing its own tail. The snake could also be choking down its own tale too. If it is, I'm here to help, because it's a signal that the tale of their trauma and pain has become toxic enough, they cannot swallow their own legends and lies. They're ready for a fresh start and a new perspective for their story. We each have a tale as old as time.
Spirit encouraged me to study the ways of "dragons" as we enter the Year of the Dragon this February according to the Chinese Calendar, how's that for a fresh start? What dragon will you consider as your companion?
Churchill's dragon might have been "Smaug" (hello darkness, my old friend) that magnificent, ancient hoarder of gold and gems in Tolkien's "The Hobbit". The play on the name didn't escape you, did it? When Smaug addresses Bilbo, saying, "Well thief I smell you, I hear your breath, I feel your air. Where are you? Come now, don't be shy ... step into the light", he had no idea what he had done. It was the end of Smaug's wickedness and pride. When Prime Minister Churchill stepped away from the apathy of his "smog" and into the light it was a pivotal moment for himself and for the people he served.
I urge you all to "step into the light", let your dragon spirit soar this year and like the Chinese calendar, remember that all things Heavenly (called "Heavenly Branches) are connected to all things Earthly (Earthly Stems). One cannot be without the other. Consider just how important you are in connecting heaven and earth? Stephen King said it best, I think, "The mind can calculate, but the spirit yearns, and the heart knows what the heart knows."
