Well last night was Valentine's Day in NYC and it was absolutely crowded everywhere ! I made the mistake of going out with no reservations at prime time (and for those that don't know ,'prime' dinner hour in NYC is 8 o'clock.) Wow! It was sold out everywhere but that was no surprise and pretty much to be expected .Normally Wednesday night wouldn't be a tough night to go out and get dinner at 8' o'clock on.
So we ended up at my friend Erik's place on the upper east side and decided to go to York Avenue to a place called Eastfield's for dinner. With no reservation we certainly didn't expect a table but thought there might be seats at the bar.Nope! There weren't any seats anywhere so back out we went.Up 79th street ,past a pretty church ,tried Sojourn but they were also packed.Eventually we ended up at a great Turkish place on the corner of 81st and 3rd that we'd been to before called Beyoglu.
Their warm bread and hummus is always so delicious! I strongly urge you to get some if you come here. Also excellent were the grilled shrimp appetizer,so delicious.I got swordfish kabob for a main course and Erik got the doner kabob (which he couldn't finish and took half of home to have today !) We went home for dessert because I had brought up a couple cupcakes from Butter Lane Bakery down my way in the east village.Delicious while watching the Winter Olympics. A very sweet and lovely night,Enjoy the pics , Love Susan @shimmeringpath
