AKL: Muriwai & Piha. West Auckland. 45 min drive (1.5 hr with traffic) Muriwai has incredible light reflection due to the black sand and its angle towards the sun setting in the horizon: amazing for pics. Until April 15 you can still rent a small car with camping equipment from a local resident
We also did Piha and slept there on second night. Same 20 NZD p/p in the camp site, and is not allowed (nor illegal 🤷🏽♀️ but subject to a 200 NZD fine) to camp anywhere. Kitekite waterfalls (very close to Piha beach) are amazing to dip in: cold and rejuvenating! Best to do 3 or 4 people max. Tent included is for 3 people (I could help you arranging 4th tent if you PM me). Expenses being around 150 NZD in total, for 2 full days per person.
