Immigration New Zealand is moving with the times to update their visa process.
From July 4th, Immigration New Zealand will stop issuing stickers for approved visas.
Previously, almost all visas which were initially lodged on a paper form would receive a sticker in the applicants passport. The sticker would contain the personal details of the applicant, along with their visa conditions.
Conversely, applicants who lodged their visa applications online would simply receive an approval email, and a digital copy of their visa. The digital copy would contain the same information as the sticker version, but would not be directly affixed into the passport.
E-Visas will now be issued even for approved paper applications.
We at AMG Immigration, a immigration adviser based in Wellington, think that this is a positive development. Moving to a digital visa will reduce the processing time for visas, as the application will not be bottle-necked by the physical process of printing stickers. Also, the digital visa process will likely reduce operating costs, as Immigration New Zealand will not longer have to deal with supply costs.
