OGame: don't we have all these childhood memories, filled with joy and seemingly endless fun? What once gave us hours of fun is now back - but much better!

I will start with my first experience of OGame. It's 2003, when the eighth universe in OGame history was born. Friends, neighbours and internet acquaintances have come together to form a powerful alliance and thus dominate the universe as top players. Epic space battles have entered the chronicles...
The [DKF] Delta Kommando Force was born.
As one of the first alliances in the eighth universe, Gordor @louis88 and I as team leaders had the task of finding a meaningful distribution of roles. From war minister to diplomat - all roles were powerful and the alliance gained power day by day.
Through the expansion of our planet, we were able to quickly distribute resources among each other in order to promote each other. If one of our members was attacked once (at that time the speed of the server was x1) we had enough time to form up and fight off the attack together by tactics and strategy.
Through skilful manoeuvres we were able to develop sophisticated attack and defense strategies. By our considered acting we could hold ourselves over years in the Top-3 of the alliances.

This is how you can describe OGame if you register for one of the newer universes and search the galaxy for debris fields with familiar playmates or if you create new debris fields.
By redesigning the game interface, the game has definitely become more attractive. New features have been implemented, browser extensions have been developed and new large alliances have been formed. OGame, as it was developed in its time, is generally overhauled and offers a new visual and playful feeling of the classic browser game.
The Dark Matter
The Internet is constantly growing and developers are programming and implementing new game modes, improving gameplay or integrating new reward and payment methods. OGame has also profited from this!
For example, you can gain small advantages in the game in many different ways. Whether this is now Pay2Win, I leave it to the discretion. However: with the dark matter a feature was created, which makes the faster development of buildings and fleets possible.
While you might be straining your wallet to gain an advantage inGame, there is already a great alternative on the Steem Blockchain called NextColony. A space browser game with RPG elements that can even be transferred to other players. So while you are building your first planet you can also sell your items and earn valuable STEEM. STEEM as currency for your Blogging/Vlogging
If you are active on the Steem Blockchain, you can, for example, use the income from your comments, posts, vlogs or instagram feeds (by the votes of other users) to buy a box of resources internally or a rune for an increased boost on your planet.
In the good old days of OGame, people used to talk and chat... And also here you arrived in the year 2019. Nowadays Discord offers the possibility to easily use your own text and voice channels. Whether to communicate, exchange strategies or to coordinate - the game fun increases enormously. All in all, the communication between the players and within the alliance is also decisive in NextColony.
I mentioned the new ships, buildings and even skills? Again, NextColony makes its forerunner OGame look literally old.
For me, the skills are one of the decisive points that make the game so incredibly attractive.
The possibility to form alliances, similar to what is possible in the OGame, will also exist at NextColony. The developers and programmers at NextColony are very active and the roadmap looks very promising. If you even know the developers a bit, then you know: this is a serious project.
Interesting: with NextColony, alliances across several galaxies are also possible.
Exploring the galaxy and finding planets
Even if some mechanisms might remind of OGame, many aspects and mechanisms in the game are fundamental and refreshingly new. The gameplay is designed so that you can't populate more planets by expanding your sensor phalanx like in OGame. In NextColony you literally fly through the galaxy and explore the depths of the galaxy with your explorer. With a little luck, your explorer will find another planet nearby, which is then ready for expansion. So your own empire grows bit by bit. Within an alliance you can even hand over planets to another player.
And that's where the skills kick in. Once you have skilled for your account, for example expanding your resources, you can apply skills and expansions to any of your other planets.
If I would focus my strategy in the game on expanding my warships, I would need all the more production from one resource. A found planet with a large copper supply would be ideal for me to expand my fleet. All known principles - you will quickly find your fun entry into NextColony!
If you rather use the strategy to serve as a supplier of an alliance, it is worth buying items from the shop that you can buy for STEEM. These give a strong increase in resources and offer an enormous increase in production over the long term.
So it can be imagined: the NextColony offers various possibilities to become the ruler of the universe (and also of the blockchain) again.

OGame was the first browsergame I played for month. I started playing several month before you after start of the second universe.
I heard about Ogame a few weeks after the start and missed the beginning. But now I've been with NextColony since the first hour.
so you are an really early adopter to ogame too, thanks for letting me know and let us get into Nextcolony together.

Despite the fact, that the blockchain realm had many bad news in the mass media because of ICO frauds and so on, the blockchain industry is here to stay and many project proof that they are seriously working on their projects. They partner with established companies, bring more and more value to the tech industry and try to change something. Even the bear market could not stop them. I don't want to call out names, but the true projects and companies are out there.
Steem is definitly one of the better blockchain platforms and has a strong community. Adding games like NextColony is a huge benefit for the entire STEEM platform but also can be a valueable example for the whole blockchain space. I am here on Steem since quite a while and played many games like OGame and now NextColony. Seeing this game evolving makes me proud and I was a strong believer in this project since the beginning.
THIS is just the beginning and we all can be excited to see this game evolving in the next couple of months.

I tryed a lot of browser games before like Die Stรคmme or Grepolis, but Ogame was my favorite because of the space enviroment. It was way cooler to attack people with Destroyer or deathstars rather then some cavalery or some small wooden boats.
So I was really happy to discover @steemnova here on steemit that is also a Ogame clone. I played it nearly one year and we made it with the D-A-CH Alliance on the Top spott of the ladder. Unfortunatly there was no really evolution in the game since no programming was done and so the game started to become boring.
And now there is now @nextcolony that is also promising, but still lacks many features. I am really exited to see the future development of this game.
P.S. I proud of my city, since Ogame was developed by Game Forge that is located and originaly from Karlsruhe.
Steemnova didnt have P2W option, and it didnt have devs who could run new features etc. for longer time. At the begining, if you remember there was a lot hmm social programing, mostly bugfix, but without financial support, it couldnt realy grow...

I like the game! But i have one question:
Is there a limit for colonys?
There will be no limit to the number of planets found. The game development even goes so far that a Build-All function will be integrated later to simplify the expansion of all planets.
Sound very good in my ears. I alreafy bought some resourcepackages.

I think NextColony will be a very successful game, which is still at the beginning and I am curious where the journey goes.
I like the game already and look forward to more, I think the developers have a great plan and the team is working great together.

Playing NextColony is fun. Is there anything need more to say? I think not....
Ogame in universe 8 was a very long time ago. But I can still remember exactly the time when we were together in the Internet kiosk and privately at friends' computers and tried to form the strongest alliance and to grow steadily. This is now almost 16 years ago and has shaped my life in the browser game world like other things. All the more I am happy how the internet has developed over time, new technologies have been developed and today we can play on a new spacey browser game. I've been in the game for a few days now and think it's very good. After more than a year of membership on the Steem Blockchain there is finally a game that you can play slowly and very well. The developers are really putting the pedal to the metal and I'm excited about all the features and enhancements that are coming into the game.
Games on a blockchain give a special attraction for more. Since everything here is transparent and everything can be traced, it is a special experience for me to be there. The technology is still in its infancy and is constantly being further developed.

awesome to see you here on Steem. I can still remember our common farm flights in the Uni 8. When the AKS system was integrated we caused a lot of junk and mined as much debris. It's nice to read your first experiences with NextColony and I'm as excited as the development is.
where are your coordinates in the galaxy? Maybe we can exchange the first resources soon.
My Alpha Planet is located: Galaxy (32/276 to 57/264) and currently i saw some neighbours. i hope they are friendly and making no stress in the first time :)
I played Ogame too... and I liked it very much.
Now NextColony is here and combines a great game with a great community here on the Steem Blockchain. <3

in NextColony there are already communities that have formed an alliance. I can imagine that this plays a big role in the course of the game, just like in Ogame .
Haha, yes my neighbour, well written post.. I am getting closer and closer to launch my first ship.. Who will be the first? Maybe we should work together, never played this type of games before, well a bit of DW, but that does not really feel like a game, this one does. I just hope there will be plenty left to explore once I have my first ship. :)

i recommend to form an alliance or join an existing - some worldwonder will appear in the near future and they give out a lot of rewards. of course you can find planets - sell them and you can offer your ships too to users.

I really liked your post, I'm boosting my mines so I can afford to go wild with as many explorers as I can...when alliances form count me in the one you join :)
This is indeed a very interesting feature to push each other in the future, iยดm curiouse about whats to come and especially about the fighting system! I guess some players should be about 2 or 3 weeks away from the first colonization :D?

A lot! What they have already developed at the start of the game and are still on the roadmap leaves you looking forward to a great and exciting game.

I never played OGame. And I am just playing nextColony out of peer pressure. So far it's a good game. Haven't found any bugs yet. Although a bit confusing at first. But now I like it. Solid 5/7

I like this game, im making adict! its good like Mapplestory 2
I know this internet came OGame... I was play this sone years back. ๐
Besides that the game is like OGame set in the space what this two games have in common? Cant see this similarity. It dosent mean that this is bad. I realy like exploration, and galaxy view. Its way different and better then in OGame. In the other hand in OGame we had at the begining a lot things to do. First rides, attacks was after hmm 24-48h? And here, we even dosent have combat module, and to get some ships without paying you must doing upgrades more or less 3-4 weeks maybe more. With money, now it is about 1 week, maybe in future new players will be able to buy ships from other players, so it will be faster. There is also great thing about game - it is on blokchain so it gives us transparency, but it also take from us fog of war (you can see everything about other player, including when his fleets will be back at home - like superphalanx).
In Ogame agresive players had adventage. Here devs are trying to make better balance. It is good especialy for ppl with less time, but it is also bad cause it makes game less intense, borring even.
summarizing i would not call this game OGame on blokchain. But still it is very interesting space strategy game, and i hope it will grow in good way.
