I am somehow 3-0.
In week 3, I pulled out a narrow win in the most improbable fashion. I went into Monday Night Football ahead by something like 26 points, with a projected 35 points expected from my opponent. He had Julio Jones, one of the top WRs in the game, and Mark Ingram, a solid RB.
Julio Jones was held to 1 catch for 16 yards. Unheard of. Despite my team's appalling performance overall, I was able to win this week with the second lowest point total in the league.
It really came down to the wire. The projections were showing it as basically a coin flip until the very end of the MNF game.
I will touch on a few significant results from my own team...
Kelvin Benjamin
Zero catches. I knew this guy was a boom or bust player, but this came as a shock. I blame it more on the Panthers offense in general, rather than Benjamin's personal performance. He was only targeted once.
Pretty disappointing, obviously. But somewhat tempered by the 1 catch performance from Julio Jones.
David Johnson
I can always count on this guy, even when the rest of my team is pooping the bed.
83 yards on 19 carries, with 2 touchdowns. On top of that, another 28 yards on 3 catches.
Carson Palmer
Just plain stunk. Interceptions all over the place. No touchdowns. Some yards, but really not the production you need from your QB.
The game recap will feature both Johnson and Palmer:
Frank Gore
He had his best game of the season. 82 yards and a touchdown. He was one of only two players on my team who met or exceeded projections (the other being D. Johnson).
He's clearly not among the best backs in the league at this point... But he is getting the job done, as a result of his role in the Colts offense.
I won my matchup even if I started Fitzpatrick!!
Got lucky that Atlanta decided to run the ball that much. It lead to Ryan having an ok game instead of putting a billion points!
