Titan Dogs - Making an NFT collection

Hello there,

In this post I wanted to share this week's exciting little project. I decided to create my own NFT collection!

You may know I already have some of my art pieces up for grab on NFTShowroom.

But as I mentioned last week, I wondered if I could pull off a whole collection... Just needed the right idea.

And then... I drew this...

A dog in a robot...
Titan dogs were born!

The story:

It is the near future, as a result of a nuclear incident, insects have become gigantic and human are no longer the dominant specie. They have been hunted down by giant mosquitoes and worms, captured and kept alive as an unlimited source of blood energy. All hope seemed lost.

But a renegade squad of loyal dogs are here for the rescue. They find abandoned titans used in battle against the first waves of giant insects. Finding an understanding with the on board A.I. they lead the charge to save their lost human companions.

No bugs will stand in their way!

To sum it up: Homeward bound meets Starship trooper...

Pretty cool, right?

I became obsessed with the idea and started sketching frenetically. Trying to come up with the right design and multiple variations that would combine together.

I redrew my initial sketch for a first attempt on this version. I thought I could work directly with the pencil sketch but, as you'll see later on, I actually inked it up for a better result.

And what would be Titan dogs without... dogs...

I drew this lovely bunch of furry friends in photoshop this afternoon. I'll be sure to print them out and ink them properly with much more details for the final version.

And now the inked version of the Titan!

Not bad, isn't it?
I actually split the robot into 6 parts:

  • the cabin
  • the chest area
  • the engine
  • the arms
  • the legs

That way I can easily have unique variations without the hassle of redrawing everything. Here are some ideas of elements I could combine going forward.

I could be working on inking THIS atrocity next!

Finally here's a little test on a colored version. ;-)

So is there a market for an original hand drawn mecha furry NFT collection?

I guess we'll find out. I know NFTs that are not play-to-earn are not as popular but I'm testing the waters here. Titan dogs could be cool as a game going forward.

I imaging a community campaign where you progressively take back the city, picking up weapons, squashing some bugs, saving humans. Remember I did a 3d multiplayer wargame last year so it's not out of my league! ;-) I'll continue to think about that while I finish up this first part of the project.

I still haven't decided on the platform to use once I complete the art. As I mentioned in my previous post, I don't think NFTShowroom is the best fit for large collections as the fees can really add up.

I'm looking into Solanart which seems to have a lot of new NFT collections and low fees.

I'd love to know you thoughts on the concept.
I'll share some more progress with you guys here.

Thanks for passing by.

See you on the other side,

Jrej

That's hilariously cute XD and good idea with breaking the mecha parts up so you can customise them quicker.

Now all you need is some platform that will let you make individual pieces as nfts that people can buy and mix and match together to make their own mecha with cute puppy pilots :D

Hehe I actually hadn't thought about people buying their own parts of the mecha. I was gonna mint the whole finished piece but that's a great idea. I can maybe sell parts as a group to start with and add extra pieces afterwards.

It's a fun idea. It did remind me a bit of this, but you took it in a different direction.

Robo dog

It could link in with the dog meme crypto coins.

!PIZZA

Ha! I had forgotten about this one! An exoskeleton like this would probably be more convenient indoors... But dogs would never be so mean. Hopefully they got that right in the end.
