GodsUnchained - TOTG - Best Value Picks (Part 2)

part2.jpg

Hi everyone,

this is part 2 on my previous post - and if you haven't read it check it out here . In part 2 I will discuss my personal picks from the rare and common section of Trial of The Gods Set. There are some good opportunities here and I would like to share my thoughts on it.

RARE CARDS

The Rares on average have around 8,500 meteorite copies each. We will be looking specifically at meteorite, because they are with the lowest cost and have the highest turnover. One of the best rare cards in the set is Shadow of Lethanon and I wish I got in early on it, but I missed my opportunity at the time. Amazing card, but at $10 starting price I do not see the potential for a big gains. I might be wrong on this and we might see something similar to what Pyramid Warden from the genesis set did (Going from $10 to about $118 today), but I really don't see it happening, with "Shadow of Lethanon". It's just that it is a god specific card and it can't be used in any deck. " Shadow of Lethanon" is a great card but at current prices I don't see it rising more than 3-4x at best from it's current price. This doesn't make it a bad card to hold, but definitely not the one with the biggest potential.

These cards will see demand as the game grows. Potential ROI is there as long as you make your right picks and don't buy some meme card nobody uses.

1) Parthene Guardian

God Neutral cards win...Parthene .......................Guardian
Parthene Guardian is my top pick. It's a common card so it can be used in any deck. It is an Olympian card with a special afterlife effect of throwing ward on all your Olympian creatures on the board. This makes it a very desirable card for any Olympian based deck. I call personally call this card - Trojan Golem's little sister with a twist. They are very similar cards in effect and yet very different. The price for "Trojan Golem" from the Genesis set hoovered in the $1.50 range for a 18 months before it shot up to about $20 per card at it's ATH. At the moment "Trojan Golem" found it's support at around $10 and hoovers around that price point. I think we will see something similar with Parthene Guardian in the not so distant future which makes it a really good long term hold. A price jump to around $10 per card brings it to around 750% gains which makes it a great investment and add on to your collection.parthene_guardian.png

2) Student of Society

Out of all the students...Student..Of..Society
Another god neutral card easy to find itself in a lot of decks. It is also the best " Student" of all the "Student" cards giving you the most favorable "favor", pun intended. Anyone who would like to build a "Favor" themed deck will want to have this card in it. Most of the players building "Favor" decks and playing against me have Student of Society in them. It is a specialized unique 1 mana drop and there will be a future demand for it for sure. Will it hit more than $20? I truly doubt it, but 8-15$ range does not seem impossible. Even at $5 the return will be 5x+. I am expecting this card to surpass $5 within the next year or so.student_of_society.png

3) Arkmonian Hydra

Everyone wants a HydraArkmonian..................Hydra
With the majority of new players predominantly playing nature this card will sell. It will be a very affordable addition to their Nature decks. At the time of this article the card comfortably sits on $2.93 with prices being as low as $1.70 just 2 months ago. There is only one card with similar properties in the God's Unchained collection - That Which Aches. That makes Arkmonian Hydra close to exceptional. Arkmonian Hydra can win games and I've won quite a few games with it. I have also lost to people who drew the card when playing against me since certain gods do not have the wipe spells or creatures to deal with it. It's a strong play with unique attributes at $2.93. In my mind this card can easily sell in the $12-20 range 12-18 months from now. What do you think?arkmonian_hydra_now.png

Final Words on the Rares from TOTG

There are lot of good rare cards in this set and I think that they will all perform well over time. Cards like "Cruel Overseer", "Deathwatch Curate" and "Skull Scepter" are finding their way in almost every Death Deck you see at the higher ranks. Could they bring great returns on your investment? They just don't fill all the checkmarks on my list to fit in my top 3. If " Shadow of Lethanon" was at a price point of 4-5$ it would of hit the top of my list, but since the card seems a bit overprized at the current state of the game I did not put it in it. Could it go to 70-100$? It sure can,but I am just not 100% convinced we will see this happen in the next 12-18 months. Anyways, only time will tell... And now - the last section of the TOTG set... the Commons...
.

Common Cards

With common cards we have to keep one thing in mind -There are a lot of them... and I do mean a lot. On average in the common section of TOTG you can see around 23,500 meteorite copies. Which makes them very stable with little to no fluctuation in price. The price with the commons is a steady climb over a long period of time. The ROI is not that great if you compare them to Rares and Epics. On average these cards will be the easiest to sell since they are the cheapest cards and accessible/affordable to more people. With that being said, I think 4x is the minimum ROI for the commons we will be looking at. Here are my 3 picks from the TOTG common cards.
.

1) Diligent Architect

Delve me something....Diligent........Architect
This card is currently sitting at 0.42 cents. It's a god neutral card. It delves a structure, gives it +2 health and drops it in your hand. This is a nice card for anyone trying to build a control deck or have a mid range card which can help slow the tempo of the game. I use it in couple of control decks and I am pretty happy with it and what it does. Sometimes it can be a game saver. The card was selling for 15 cents 3 months ago. At current price of 42 cents I still see it as a steal and as the best card with the highest return potential from TOTG common cards. The only other card with similar effects is Aegis Commander from the Genesis set which is a Rare and hoovers around $3-4. Diligent Architect is cheaper and cost less mana to play. I think 5-6x in the next 12-18 months is a reasonable prediction for this card. And that's why this is my first pick.diligent_architect.png

2) Ironclad Minotaur

A wake up call....Ironclad.....Minotaur
Ironclad Minotaur - another great god neutral card. It can be used in any deck. It throws ward on your god protecting it from spells, and removes sleep from all your sleeping creatures which makes it a great counter card to any deck with Demogorgon in it. On top of it all, it has protected. The card is a strong 6 mana drop with unique attributes and it sells for 66 cents. I am not sure how high in value this card can go, but there are not a lot of answers for sleep in this game and this card is one of them. This makes it valuable and a nice counter to have in your deck. I think $2-3 within the next 12-18 months is possible for this card.ironclad_minotaur.png

3) Jaguar Staff

Give me more JaguarsJaguar...................Staff
The reason this is not my first pick is the price... Sitting at 1.23 this is currently the most expensive TOTG common card on the market. And people will buy it. Every nature player wants one. The staff that gives you jaguars every time you attack is a great addition for every mid range nature player. The card looks cool and it does cool stuff. How high could this go in the next 12-18 months? I don't think anyone knows for sure, but I am willing to bet on it hitting 3x from it's current price point.jaguar_staff.png

Final Words on common cards from TOTG

There's more than a dozen of awesome cards in the commons, but I am not 100% convinced commons give the best value proposition. ... Looking at the Genesis set, there is no meteorite copy of a common higher than 4$ at the moment. The cards have been out for more than couple of years now, but their starting point was much lower with some of the cards trading for 5-10 cents. Now can something in the meta change and make a certain card more valuable and spike the demand for this particular card? Yes. It is possible, but I would not bet on it. Cards like Olympian Guard, Nokkvi Pillager and Ornery Goat are holding great potential as well and will at least double in price over the next 12 months in my opinion, but I just feel that they are a bit overpriced at the moment and do not hold the best returns. Anyways. I hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what your best picks are in the comments! Stay Awesome!!!

Great write up! Your post will probably be seen by more eyes if posted in a community. You're welcome to bring your stuff to the Hive Gaming Community! 😄

Thank you for the tip !!! Just started using the platform and not quite sure how everything works just yet. :)

Totally get that. There’s a lot to learn. Most people browse communities and if you don’t post in them people will really only see your posts if they follow you or happen to be checking out your associated tags.

Got it. I was wondering why my posts don't get any exposure. I will share them in couple of communities, at least get some exposure and share my insights. Thanks again!
