Hebrews 11:6 ESV
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
James 2:18 ESV
But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works
Those scriptures above gives us a glimpse of how faith is important in the life of a Christian.
Hebrews 11:1 ESV
Goes on to give a biblical meaning to faith-
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
In the scripture there were two kinds of faith that were revealed. In the book of Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. It captures first a General faith that can be generally applied and exercised by everybody and anyone who believes.
Again in the book of Habakkuk there's another kind of faith that talks about our Personal faith This kind of faith deals individually. In other words, the latter is narrower than the former in application Habakkuk 2:4I, the LORD, refuse to accept anyone who is proud. Only those who live by faith are acceptable to me.
What then is faith? Faith is having a complete trust in our God. It is believing that what God says he will do, he will do it no matter your present situation. Faith can also be classified as the only legally acceptable currency in Heaven. It is what a believer gives in confidence to God’s presence believing to access that which belongs to him. Faith is an undeniable substance required in the living life of a believer with which we can purchase anything from God without delay.
But how important is faith in the life of a believer?
It needs faith to believe in Christ, to trust God and live by his word every day, and to believe that what he says is always correct and true. You won't have the faith to see God's Kingdom arrive not only in your life but also in the lives of those around you, though, if your faith doesn't deepen in your relationship with Christ.
To understand the importance of faith on the life of a believer, Jesus compared our faith to a mustard seed. The interesting thing is that a mustard seed happens to be the smallest of all seeds. But why the comparison. The more a seed grows, the more value it gains. You provide nutrition to the germ of your faith, by watering and feeding it. By reading God's Word, participating in worship, and praying, we are fed. The germ of faith in your life is fed by all of those things. (17:20 in Matthew).
In conclusion, we must recognize that although if the Word reveals to us our redeeming rights, it is faith that brings about their enforcement in our lives.
However, faith requires its own effort in order to function; it cannot function on its own. To put it another way, faith without works is fruitless and meaningless.
The just are the only people who possess this type of faith, according to the proverb "the just shall live by faith" (Romans 1:17). It goes without saying that, aside from seeking salvation, a sinner cannot use or operate with this currency called faith. Sinners lack the ability to exercise trust in God because they are outside of the "commonwealth of God." Come to Jesus now!
