While tensions have eased a little now, in the past few months of the year 2017, many speculations and fear about the end of the world due to war had surfaced. Stories of how nuclear bombs could set off a chain of reactions that meant earth's doom, nuclear winters , starvation etc were all told.
And these aren't the only things that were feared.
Warnings about increasing temperatures, warming climates, and [that big chunk of ice that broke away from Antarctica], and how all that could pose a treath to human existence were said.
But in all these one fact should be noted and should remain constant, the end of human life not the end of the planet, is what is going to happen.
Earth
Forged about 4 billion years ago, the planet we all live on is extremely old, so old in fact that the whole of human existence could probably fit into 1 second, in a 24 hour clock.
Forged from what is termed "solar nebula" . continuous gravitational forces pulled dust, rocks, asteroids, and many other materials together, compacted over years to firm what we now know as earth.
The planet on which we humans show near zero respect for, was once inhabitable to even the smallest of organisms.
From when there was a higher level of toxic gases in the atmosphere, to when we as a species evolved, we can only speculate, and use certain scientific methods to know, never 100% but close enough, how the earth looked like and worked back then.
Tell me something, when was the last time you planted a trees willingly?
Or when was the last time you campaigned against the emission of gases that damage the atmosphere?
We as humans, are unfortunately parasites to a host that is so loving, for while it provides us with abundant resources, food , crops and fruits, we have , in our own ignorance or selfishness, decided to do way more harm than good to the planet.
We tear down tress so we can build toxic metallic structures.
We destroy natural biomes and habitats so we can have places for our desires.
We over breed and strain the resources of the planet, polluting air, land and water without prejudice.
Earth not scared
But the earth doesn't mind, the earth appreciates the efforts that multiple individuals from around the world have done.
There are organizations that fight against pollution, against the destruction of natural habitats.
How would you feel, if the bacterias that live naturally on us decided to turn up all logic?
The truth is, earth has suffered many abuses in the past, astroid impacts, volcanic eruptions, earth has survived before, and will survive again, it may take years for the earth to return to a state of equilibrium, but nuclear war and winter have no dent on it.
The initiators will be wiped off, and the planet will grow to support life once more.
While I may joke about certain things, the fate of our planet is not a joke. Let's do our part in helping planet earth stay safe for us humans

Detonating the right bombs at the right position could do a lot of damage. But as you said, the Earth will survive and we'll be on the losing end. We need to set measures in place to save the blue planet, lest it becomes a grey planet.
