NIGERIA; ITS RESOURCES AND ITS ADDITION TO ITS COMMUNITY

Nigeria (Federal Republic Of Nigeria) is a located in the West Africa, it is bordered in the North, East, South and West by Niger, Cameroon and chad, the Atlantic Ocean and The Republic of Benin Respectively. It is made up of 36 states of which Abuja is the capital, Nigeria is officially a democratic secular country.


Three languages are majorly spoken in Nigeria which are the hausa, Igbo and yoruba. The hausa ethic group are located in the Northern part, the Igbo in the south-east and finally the yoruba in the south-west. Nigeria population was estimated to be 140,431,790 as of 2006 National census and is predicted to be 185,989,640 as of 2016. its population is growing exponentially and its economy is booming rapidly.

RESOURCES IN NIGERIA



crude oil: Nigeria is the largest deposit of sweet crude oil in Africa, in the world it is the 6th largest producer and 5th largest supplier. it crude is said to be sweet in that it have a relatively low density and sulphur content.
these deposit are main are mainly found in Niger-delta region that is the southern part of Nigeria.

IRON ORE: Apart from crude oil Nigeria is also rich with resources like iron ore which determines the military strenght of a Nation, iron ore is of different type, varying from its purity but the purest is deposited in itakpe kogi state and other deposit are also found in states from the eastern part of Nigeria. Basically iron ores are found in rocks (sedimentary rocks), iron ore composes od what is known as rock mineral.
Due to its high melting and boiling point and also it variation in constituent, one can easily employ iron for where toughness and high strength is needed.

LIMESTONE: Limestone is basically a form of sedimentary rock that is rich in crystal form of calcium trioxocarbonate (CaCO3). this crystal form comes in form of calcite and aragonite. It is known that all sedimentary rock have about 10-15% of limestone present. these limestone are formed from the accumulation of calcium rich materials like shells, corals and bones for a long period of time. Limestone deposit is mainly found in Cross river and Ebonyi state which is located in the south-east of Nigeria, its is also found in small quantities around Nigeria.

COAL: Coal is a fossil fuel that is it is formed from deposite of dead plants and animals which have decompose for thousands of years, it is a good source or non-renewable energy in that once its it is depleted it can not be retrieved back. It is a good source of energy in form of heat, it have a high calorific value that is it burns with a release of heat energy than normal.Nigeria is blessed with coal rich states especially Enugu which is known as the “the coal city” because of its vast coal deposits. other states include Edo, Anambra and other neighboring state of ENUGU.
