Manchester City v Liverpool, Roma v Barcelona

in #nigeria7 years ago

Despite the fact that Manchester City came out with a strong team, the Liverpool team played better. Jurgen Klopp’s team left it all on the pitch and played with the finesse of the world class team that they are. Manchester's central forward Gabriel Jesus placed his team ahead by scoring an early goal within two minutes. Sane, scored the second goal but this goal was disallowed by the referee. The referee claimed that Liverpool's goalkeeper was fouled, which resulted in City’s goal being disallowed. As you would expect, Pep Guardiola was not happy with this decision. He expressed his displeasure to the referee and this earned him a yellow card. Pep was forced to watch his team as a spectator as his team started the second half.

In the second half, assistant manager, Mikal Arteta took over the sidelines and had front row seat to Manchester City’s absolute humiliation in the hands of Liverpool. The second half was Liverpool’s opportunity to shine. Mo Salah started the goal scoring for Liverpool in the 56th minute and in the 77th minute, Firmino scored the goal that gave his team their win.
This means that Manchester City has lost their bid for the UEFA champions league and Liverpool has qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions league. This defeat makes it Pep Guardiola’s third consecutive defeat in a very long time.

The next game of interest was that of Barcelona versus Roma. Barcelona came into the game with a 4 -1 lead and it was expected that Barcelona will scale through this one with ease. However, this was not to be. Roma dominated this game starting with a 1- 0 lead from Dzeko in the fifth minute. After scoring their first goal, Roma only needed two more goals to qualify for the Champions League. These two goals came from De Rossi in the 58th minute and Manola in the 82nd minute. Despite Barca fielding top players like Messi, Suarez, and Pique, the team could only manage three shots on goal compared to Roma’s 6 shots on target.

Overall, this was another thrilling game and a great win for Roma.

What happened last night was unbelievable. The As roma vs Barcelona game was the shock of the night. I started watching the game when As roma scored the 3rd goal. It was an absolute cracker between both clubs. Messi had a close chance to win the game but his shot was pretty weak in front of goal. No one saw this coming with an inform Barcelona team fielding the best strikers in the world. This was the exact same thing Barcelona did last season with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). PSG had a 4-0 comfortable win at home against Barcelona, but things turned around for PSG at the Nou camp where they lost to Barcelona 6-1 in the return leg.
Pretty sad for Manchester City. At the moment things are going badly for them. Three straight defeats already and it might become four this weekend when they face Tottenham Hotspurs. That is a game I am looking forward to. There are other games tonight. Maybe we get to see another surprise tonight. Who knows?
