Happy Democracy day to my beloved Nigeria
I know you are still growing up in every area
Most of the time it seems as if you are even behind Liberia
This is in no small part to our greed and wastage of resources palava
Our leaders look devoid of ideas like a man down with malaria
I could go for some healing for them even to far away India

You are a country filled with promise
With selfcenteredness you have been compromised
Everyone tend to take a knife from the so called national cake
They strip you of everything, even the cake they didn't bake
They are full of dramas and everything they take

What have we done with our Democracy, as we have, with our independence?

Nigeria is not where she needs to be. It's hard to point to something worthy of emulation, in celebration of this Democracy. It's heart wrenching. We sold ourselves cheap and we even gave discount. We blame our leaders and we keep putting them there. No system is even fair and the voice of the masses has been lost in the crowd. We stick our head outside the country and we are not even proud. How can a nation filled with so much natural resources, and dripping with abundance go on begging? How can the son of the rich go on begging for crumbs? How can the daughter of a king be stripped of dignity and ridiculed? There is no motivation to celebrate this Democracy day, because it is just like we are still under Military regime. Nothing has changed so far. They control us at will. We have no rights. We have no say. We have no freedom, all they do is to suppress our voices and take out those who still raise theirs. Are we really in Democracy?.

All I still cling unto is a deep sense of faith and hope
We have grown a thick skin that everyone can cope
But for how long do we have to wash our dirty linen without soap?
People shake their head in disbelief even though we are as popular as the pope
We simply lack the spirit of service, so every man looks to each other's neck with a rope

Highlighting the problem still won't solve anything
What we need to do is not theory but "practical something"
It will definitely get better, that's a sure thing
We need to take bold steps and not just be talking one thing
We no say our so called leaders just dey do us strong thing

General overview:

Hope in a new Nigeria. I know we have been saying this, even when I was young, and now I have grown, we are still hoping. Be the change you want to see. Let it start from you. Let it spread from you. Stop worrying about others. If it has to be just you doing the right thing while others are having a headway doing the wrong thing, take solace in the fact that you have a conscience, clear enough to sleep at night, because you will find yourself in leadership position tomorrow. Will you stifle oppositions or will you allow free voice? Will you be liberal? Open? Free? Do the best for others? Your choice will stand you in good stead with your maker.

We all keep doing the wrong thing and we keep looking for ways to justify ourselves. Lack of focus, ability not to see this country as our right, always allow us to sit down, feel relaxed and watch others do the damage. Sitting down and watching is as damaging in equal footing with those who do the damage. When we see a problem that need to be fixed, it means we are mandated to be the one to fix it. Taking responsibility for our country should be of utmost importance.

I promise to do my part to sustain our democracy. So help me God.

Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria. I want to do you proud to the outside world and change lot of misconceptions about you, beloved country.

That's Nigeria bro, we are even addicted with those trash our leaders put us to

We elect them there and we still can't lose hope. We have to keep fighting till we reach our safe haven.

Thanks brother.

Best wishes for your country brother

Amen. Thanks a lot my friend. I appreciate it.

Nigeria! Happy Democracy Day! Greetings from Indonesia.

My friend, thank you very much.

Anytime, Sir.

I pray we grow up sooner than later.... Amen

Amen, my darling.

Well, I see no reason to be happy on this day concerning the maladministration that is ongoing in Nigeria at the moment. For me, today is a day of sober reflection because, like you said, we are not where we should be at the moment.

You are totally right; sober reflection and taking deliberate steps to getting it right. We still can't give up hope. Thanks a lot brother.

Always my pleasure to see your fine blog. Well done bro.
