With so vast resources, but limited infracstructures and development, standard of living for an average citizen isway below par. Hence, the struggle for Survival is not only for the fittest bit also for the Skilled and smart.
CASE STUDY: A CHEMICAL ENGINEER TURNED SMOKED FISH PRODUCER/RETAILER
One of the ways not to depend on the Government and it's resources for sustainance is thinking outside the Box, just like Monica Tanee, a Chemical Engineering Graduate from University of port Harcourt Nigeria- West Africa did.
She hails from Rivers state, one of the fossil fuel producing regions of the country and she suprised us all by Processing and retails smoked fish (Cat Fish) for a living.
Her trade is a small scale business but very lucrative, she processed this fishes right from the Catch by washing them thoroughly, sprinkle salt on it and then smokes them by means of a firewood oven till they are ready for consumption.
Only a few Nigerian young ladies could do this, her believe that she could earn a living through this means after waiting for years without a job, hardwork and perstitency which is sustaining her is tenancious and commendable.

I am very glad and proud to state that I am one of those few Nigerian women, who wouldn't wait for any kind of assistance from the Nigerian government or any other government. I graduated in 1999, finished youth service in 2001 and had no regular career job until 2010 (9 years post NYSC). Granted that providence connected me to those who found me worthy to facilitate implementation of public health projects in Nigeria, having served with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) during my service year. However, those jobs with UNICEF, UNAIDS, NPI, etc were temporary short-term contract jobs. I was very well paid for those jobs, so when the contract ended, while waiting for the next one, I invested the money into some business. I'm writing so that whoever reads my comment on your blog will know that I had a call centre, under MTN umbrella (in Jikwoyi, Abuja) where I was making calls, selling recharge cards, foods that I make myself (cakes, meat pie, fried meat, moin-moin etc.). I'm glad to have met @oluwatobiloba who resides where I resided before. My former neighbours then whom she knows will confirm that this is a true story of my life.
