Point out a man who doesn't want success and I'll show you a man that already dead. Everyone craves a piece of the success pie. I mean everyone; the Toms, the Dicks and the Harry's. But mere craving doesn't just get you success ! Or does it? Sorry! It doesn't.
You're the same today as you will be in five years except for two things; the people you meet (association), and the books you read (knowledge).
Charlie Tremendous Jones
David Oyedepo once said that he's largely a product of books and he believes his worth would have been far more less than what it is today if not for some of the books he read.
The thing about gathering knowledge from books is the fact that you're exposed to a wealth of information, which may have taken the author years, if not a lifetime to collect, in just a few hours; depending on how fast you read.
You get to learn from their mistakes and how they corrected those mistakes. In fact you learn from their entire success stories and experiences you'd otherwise be oblivious to.
In the midst of much knowledge lies creativity. Yeah! I said it and you can quote me any where. In your pursuit for success, never disregard the power of knowledge/information, because my dear, it gives you an unfair advantage.
My dad used to say..
It is the soap that lathers, not the wrapper
Question is; why does the wrap lather? Simple answer: association.
Some part of the soap rubs off on the wrap and by the simple law of association, the wrap displays a major characteristics of the soap.
Show me your friend and I won't just tell you who you are but I may be able to predict your final destination as well. It is imperative for a prospective successful person to carefully choose his/her association. Most times, no! Not most times; always choose your association /friends, don't let them choose you.
In choosing your association, you should be picky. Look out for people that have attained heights you aspire to, people who have weathered the storms that is currently rocking your boat, people that have the compass in the stormy seas to that island called success.
Study them, get close to them, offer to help them at no cost whatsoever.! Whenever you request for tutoring from them and they come around, Take them for lunch or dinner ; whatever suits you, buy them small thoughtful presents ;something they'll appreciate.
Remember, it's you, who needs them, they may not necessarily need you. So you should strive to make them like you.
Hey! I don't mean stalking or eye service, far from it. Give them their space but tag along from a comfortable distance.
Note of warning ; don't treat them like you'll treat your peers, they are not. Even if you're age mates, achievements have created the gap.
Knowledge helps you travel faster and with speed. If you decide to study what others neglect, you'll be ahead of them.
Knowledge could keep you several years ahead of your peers, depending on how wide and how well you study.
Your knowledge about your job will determine how soon your promotion will come.
